Cultural heritage projects underway in Debrecen and Târgu Mureș
Cultural institutions in Hungary and Romania are undergoing significant renovations to preserve artistic and educational heritage.
At the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Engineering, iconic artworks are being restored as part of campus modernization. These include a 84-square-meter enameled mosaic by György Z. Gács created in 1972 and Eszter Mattioni’s work titled ‘Ifjú szívekben élek’. While the pieces will be temporarily removed for restoration, they are scheduled to be returned to their original locations to maintain the faculty's architectural identity.
In Târgu Mureș, Romania, the Művész (Arta) cinema is undergoing renovations, including heating, ventilation, and roof insulation improvements. The building is expected to be handed over to the University of Arts of Târgu Mureș by November. While the facility will primarily support university training for operators and directors, Mayor Zoltán Soós stated that the main hall will continue to host regular film screenings for the general public, focusing on art films.
