Cultural heritage routes highlighted in Catalonia
Various initiatives in Catalonia are drawing attention to the region's agricultural and natural heritage. In the Conca de Barberà, a group of approximately 30 people is participating in the ‘Carrerada de Santa Coloma’, a three-day transhumance trek. Accompanied by shepherd Daniel Giraldo, the group is moving a flock of 250 Murcian-Granadan goats from Santa Coloma de Queralt toward Cunit to promote silvopasture and natural heritage.
In the Bages region, specifically within the Flequer Valley in Talamanca, hikers are discovering historic stone structures known as ‘tines’. These cylindrical or quadrangular stone buildings were used during the 18th and 19th centuries to ferment grape juice directly in the vineyards, reducing the need to transport harvests to villages. These structures serve as significant historical witnesses to the traditional viticultural economy of the area.
