Cultural heritage sites reopen in Brittany, France

Two heritage sites in Brittany have undergone significant transformations to better reflect local history and culture.

On the island of Groix, the former lighthouse keeper's house at Pointe des Chats has been restored by the Conservatoire du littoral. Originally built in the late 19th century to warn sailors of rocky shallows, the building has been converted into a heritage gîte. The restoration aimed to preserve original elements, such as doors and switches, while incorporating authentic furniture to provide a unique maritime lodging experience.

In Plougastel-Daoulas, the former Musée de la Fraise et du Patrimoine has reopened as the Musée du Pays Plougastel following twenty months of renovations. While the museum continues to feature the region's iconic strawberries, the new approach expands its narrative to include local trades, traditional costumes, fishing history, and regional customs, moving beyond a single agricultural focus to represent the broader identity of the peninsula.
