Cultural highlights feature César Manrique and flamenco art themes

A new documentary by journalist Concha de Ganzo explores a pivotal moment in the life of artist César Manrique. The film recounts six hours Manrique spent in New York while suffering from retinal detachment. During this period of near-blindness, Manrique navigated the city with his nephew, Eduardo, revisiting locations from his youth in the 1960s that would later influence his artistic work.

In a separate cultural event at La Casa Encendida, artists Pedro G. Romero, La Chola Poblete, and Niño de Elche present an exhibition titled ‘Continentes como semillas’ (Continents as Seeds). Originating from the CARA research center in New York, the exhibition explores themes of reverse colonization and cultural appropriation through sound installations and visual art, fostering a dialogue between different global perspectives.
