Cultural initiatives announced in Abidjan

Abidjan is set to host several major cultural events aimed at fostering artistic exchange and professional development. The 9th International Biennale of Arts (BINA) will feature approximately 47 artists from various nations, including Morocco, which has been selected as the guest of honor. The initiative, led by Ivorian painter Augustin Kassi, seeks to strengthen cultural ties between North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa through dialogue between creators, critics, and gallery owners.

In a separate development, Ivorian actor Isaach De Bankolé has unveiled ‘Premier continent,’ a project focused on the film and theater sectors. The initiative includes a Pan-African acting school designed to provide Ivorian youth with professional tools for independence in the industry. The project also features an international festival, scheduled to debut in Abidjan in November 2027, which aims to increase the global visibility of African cinema and facilitate access to production financing.
