Cultural initiatives announced in Portugal

Zaratan has opened applications for ‘Em Obras – Laboratório Experimental’, an educational program focused on visual arts. Aimed at students, artists, and early-career cultural agents, the laboratory will take place in Lisbon from September 21 to October 2. The program emphasizes practice, improvisation, and debate, featuring a group of instructors including António Olaio and Pedro Gramaxo. An exhibition of the developed work is scheduled for mid-October.

Additionally, a book celebrating the life and work of musician and pedagogue Maria Teresa de Macedo will be presented this month to mark her 100th anniversary. The book, titled ‘A música como modo de ser no mundo. Autobiografia de Maria Teresa de Macedo’, will be launched at various locations, including Casa da Música in Porto, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and Centro de Arte Alberto Carneiro in Santo Tirso.
