Cultural initiatives launched for youth in Baja California

The Instituto Sudcaliforniano de Cultura (ISC) has announced two new digital initiatives, “Del libro a TikTok” and “Enfoca la lectura,” aimed at encouraging reading habits among students in Baja California Sur. The programs invite middle school, high school, and university students to create original TikTok videos or Instagram photographs featuring books from the ISC or people reading in cultural landmarks. Cash prizes ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 pesos will be awarded per municipality based on social media engagement.

In a separate event, the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Baja California (COBACH BC) held its 2026 State Oratory and Declamation Contest in Mexicali. The competition, supported by the Instituto de la Juventud de Baja California, provided a platform for students to develop oral expression and critical thinking skills. The event featured a professional jury to evaluate participants' stage presence and emotional delivery.
