Cultural initiatives launched in Magdalena and Pasto
In Colombia, regional authorities are launching new initiatives to promote local culture and tourism. In the Magdalena department, the ‘Ruta Cultural’ concluded its institutional tour across 29 municipalities, Santa Marta, and several rural districts. The initiative, led by the departmental government, engaged 650 artists and cultural managers to identify local needs, such as youth arts training and the preservation of traditional dances like Chandé and Cumbia.
Following high interest during the tour, the deadline for the ‘Macondo Cultural’ 2026 program applications has been extended from September 10 to September 14. This program provides stimuli for arts and culture creation across the region.
Meanwhile, in Pasto, the Subsecretaría de Turismo has introduced a ‘Museum Route’ in collaboration with the Museum Network. The program features a ‘Museum Passport’ that allows citizens and visitors to collect stamps from ten different locations, including the Museo del Oro and the Museo del Carnaval. Participants who complete the circuit will be recognized as cultural and tourism managers, aiming to strengthen regional identity and diversify tourism offerings beyond the Carnaval de Negros y Blancos.
