Cultural initiatives return to Pelourinho in Salvador

Cultural initiatives are returning to the Pelourinho district in Salvador. The Culinária Musical event, led by Afrochef Jorge Washington, will return to Casa do Benin on September 13. Following renovations to the venue, the event will feature musical performances by Liz Gonçalves, Kamal Eduardo, and Aloísio Menezes, alongside traditional culinary offerings such as galinha ao molho preto and mini moqueca de ostra.

Additionally, the Afoxé Filhas de Gandhy will launch the second cycle of the Arte das Yabás project on September 15. This ten-month heritage formation program offers free courses in percussion and clarins specifically for women. Led by instructors such as percussionist Rose Ratinha and musician Geanderson Brito, the project aims to strengthen female presence in traditional music and includes biweekly therapeutic sessions focused on mental health and community dialogue.
