Cultural institutions host dance and ethnic arts exhibitions

Cultural institutions in Taiwan and Hong Kong are hosting events focused on preserving and sharing traditional performing arts.

The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts has launched a special exhibition titled ‘The Map That Jumped Out: Those Roads the Body Has Walked’ as part of the Ministry of Culture’s ‘Reconstructing Taiwan’s Art History 2.0’ project. The exhibition features fifteen independent studies, nine oral history videos, and over two hundred digital dance reviews to map the historical trajectory of dance in Taiwan through various eras and regions. The initiative also includes a seed training program for students from seven universities in southern Taiwan to engage in cultural heritage preservation.

In Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong hosted ‘Colorful Winds — A Night of Chinese Minority Arts’ under the theme ‘Greetings from the Tianshan Mountains.’ Performers from the Xinjiang Arts Institute presented traditional ethnic music and dance, including Muqam and Meshrep, alongside a photography exhibition showcasing the landscapes and culture of Xinjiang. The event aimed to facilitate cultural exchange between youth in Hong Kong and mainland China.
