Cultural investment and continuity face challenges in Veracruz
Cultural investment in Veracruz faces challenges regarding consistency and funding. In Tantoyuca, municipal president Roberto San Román is leading urban rescue and remodeling projects for the Casa de Cultura esplanade and the Luis Donaldo Colosio Auditorium. Additionally, the municipal cemetery is undergoing renovations, including new lighting, landscaping, and murals depicting regional customs to prepare for the Xantolo festivities.
Despite these local efforts, artists in Córdoba, such as musician Fernando Ruiz, argue that cultural support lacks the continuity needed to engage the population, particularly youth. Ruiz noted that while municipal administrations host events, they are often concentrated in specific periods rather than being year-round programs. He emphasized that maintaining permanent cultural activities requires consistent resources for artist contracts, venues, and materials to prevent art from being reduced to sporadic projects.
