Cultural lectures in Brazil focus on musical accompaniment and street cinema survival

Several cultural events are scheduled in Brazil, focusing on music and cinema. In Guarulhos, pianist Cinthia Sell will host a free lecture titled “Muito além do acompanhamento: o pianista correpetidor como parceiro musical” at the Conservatório Municipal de Artes de Guarulhos. The session aims to explore the role of the repetiteur—a musician who accompanies singers, dancers, and actors—and their contribution to artistic development.

In São Paulo, the Cinemateca Brasileira will host a free masterclass led by researcher Talitha Ferraz titled “Além da última sessão: os cinemas de rua, suas desaparições e sobrevivências.” The discussion will address the disappearance of historic street cinemas due to the rise of multiplexes and changing consumption habits, while examining survival strategies and urban memory in cities like Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Recife.
