Ana Brnabić and Mirjana Nikolić clash in N1 election debate

A heated pre-election debate on N1 Serbia between Ana Brnabić, representing the 'Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia' list, and Mirjana Nikolić, Rector of the University of Arts and candidate for the 'Student List', has highlighted deep political divisions. The debate, centered on education, saw Brnabić defend the government's record by citing increased education budgets and rising teacher salaries, claiming salaries would reach 1,030 euros by late 2026. Nikolić and academic critics challenged these figures, arguing that inflation and the relative purchasing power of wages must be considered.

The debate also touched upon the controversial situation at the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium in Novi Sad. Nikolić raised concerns regarding the dismissal of over 60 teachers and staff members, while Brnabić defended the school's director, Radivoje Stojković. Parents of students at the gymnasium have criticized Brnabić's support for the director, alleging mismanagement and illegal actions.

Political analysts have noted that the debate may serve as a turning point in the campaign, with Brnabić's data-driven approach potentially impacting the standing of the opposition Student List.
