Cultural preservation efforts focus on Tlalmanalco and Maya heritage
Cultural promoters in Tlalmanalco are working to expand the reach of local traditions and artistic expressions. Led by the Tlalmanalco Cultural Council and in coordination with Tlalmanalco 360, the initiative aims to create a cultural agenda that promotes the municipality's heritage both nationally and internationally through citizen participation.
In Quintana Roo, officials are addressing the challenges of preserving the Maya language amidst the multicultural environment of Cancún. Bernardo May Pat, delegate for the Institute for the Development of the Maya People and Indigenous Communities (Inmaya), noted that while discrimination has decreased, the influx of diverse populations poses a risk to linguistic traditions. Efforts are underway to implement public workshops for teaching the Maya language and to encourage local businesses and hotels to incorporate Maya symbology into their signage to foster respect and cultural recognition.
