Cultural programming returns to Athens with new television and musical events

The popular historical television program ‘Michani tou Chronou’ (Machine of Time), hosted by Christos Vasilopoulos, is returning for its 11th season on MagentaTV. The new season premieres on October 19 with an episode focusing on the commercial arcades of Athens, which served as vital economic and social hubs during the 20th century. The subsequent episode, scheduled for October 26, will cover the Viannos Massacre in Crete during World War II, featuring survivor testimonies and documentation regarding the German military operation in 1943.

In the musical sphere, classical guitarist and composer Panagiotis Margaris is launching ‘Mesogeios’ (Mediterranean) at the Theatre of the NO in Athens. Starting November 1, the performance series features a musical tribute to Mediterranean cultures, blending Portuguese fados and melodies from Southern Italy with works by composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Jacques Brel, and Nino Rota. Margaris will be joined on stage by singer Katerina Ververi.
