Various cultural initiatives are bringing free theater performances to audiences in Mexico and Argentina.
In Mexico, the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura are launching the second edition of the “Escenarios IMSS Cultura 2026-2027” program. Hosted at the Teatro “Lic. Ignacio García Téllez” in Campeche, the program will feature 42 free functions performed by nine regional companies from Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. The schedule includes works such as “La Tejedora” in October, “Las Incesantes” in November, and several productions running through March 2027.
In Argentina, the Teatro Municipal Ángel Alonso is celebrating its 51st anniversary with the first Community Theater Festival. Taking place from October 23 to 25 in Pilar, the festival offers five free performances featuring local neighborhood casts and national companies. Scheduled acts include “Alma de Barro,” the Berisso Community Theater, and the Catalinas Sur Theater Group. Attendees must collect tickets in advance at the municipal theater.
