Cultural reviews: Mika Serur novel and Acampamento Miasma film

Recent cultural releases include the novel ‘Muito Mais que Trinta Dias’ (2026) by Mika Serur and the film ‘Acampamento Miasma: Adolescência, Sexo e Morte’ (2026).

Serur’s novel is an LGBTQIA+ romance set in Rome. It follows Julian, a young man attempting to find direction in life after leaving an audiovisual course, who falls in love with Luca, an Italian musician and teacher at a music school. The narrative focuses on character development and the sincere, gradual growth of their relationship.

The film ‘Acampamento Miasma’ is an irreverent comedy that explores the behind-the-scenes production of a fictional horror franchise. The plot follows an independent filmmaker, Kris (played by Hannah Einbinder), who is hired to modernize a dated horror saga. The film, which won the Palma Queer at the Cannes Film Festival, satirizes the prejudices and stereotypes found in classic horror cinema while connecting to themes of identity and gender.
