Cultural tours bring free cinema and puppet theater to northern Brazil
Various cultural initiatives are bringing free entertainment to the northern regions of Brazil throughout August.
The Cine Elecnor outdoor cinema program is touring the state of Amazonas. The tour begins in Manaus at Parque Rio Solimões from August 14 to 16, featuring films such as ‘Divertida Mente 2’, ‘Zootopia’, and ‘O Rei Leão’. The event will then move to Parintins from August 21 to 23 at Praça dos Bois, and conclude in Silves from August 28 to 30 at Praça da Igreja Matriz. Produced by Porto Cultural and sponsored by Elecnor Brasil, the project utilizes the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive to promote cinema access.
In Roraima, the Mamulengo Circuladô tour is bringing traditional puppet theater to Cantá. Led by master puppeteer Chico Simões, the project features the show ‘O Romance do Vaqueiro Benedito’ with live musical accompaniment. Performances are scheduled for August 20 at Escola Estadual Luiz Cadete and August 21 at Espaço Circular Malokômbia. This Amazonian leg of the tour, which includes stops in Rondônia and Acre, will conclude in Macapá, Amapá, later this month.
