Cultural traditions and performances across Asia

Various Asian regions maintain distinct cultural performances and sacred sites that serve as significant tourist attractions and spiritual landmarks. In Bali, Indonesia, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang, is one of the island’s most sacred temples. Known for its ‘Gates of Heaven’ which frame Mount Agung, the site is a central part of Balinese Hinduism and the ‘Tri Hita Karana’ philosophy of harmony.

Other notable cultural expressions include the Kecak Dance in Uluwatu, Bali, where performers reenact scenes from the Ramayana epic. In Hanoi, Vietnam, the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre preserves 11th-century traditions using handmade wooden puppets. Additional regional performances include the Three Kingdoms Banquet in Wuhan, China; the Nong Nooch and Tiffany’s shows in Thailand; and Bhavai folk dances in Rajasthan, India.
