Cultural traditions celebrated in Chimborazo and Guayaquil

In the rural parish of Guanando, Chimborazo, festivities honoring the Señor de la Buena Muerte are scheduled for October 19 and 20. The program includes a vespers mass and musical concert on the 19th, followed by a fireworks display. The main day on October 20 will feature a solemn mass at 11:00 and a bullfight at 14:00.

In Guayaquil, the Municipality’s Cultural Heritage Directorate hosted the second edition of ‘La Mesa de los Muertos’ at Parque Seminario. This event showcases the coastal tradition of honoring deceased loved ones with tables filled with their favorite foods, such as fruits, bread, and traditional items like colada morada and guaguas de pan. The initiative aims to preserve ancestral customs and connect different generations through gastronomy.
