Cultural traditions marked by tennis tournament and religious procession in Spain
In Vilalba, the XXXIII San Ramón Tennis Tournament concluded at the A Madalena Sports Complex. Organized by the Club Tenis Vilalbés, the week-long event featured various categories, including youth, absolute, and veteran divisions. Local officials, including Mayor Marta Rouco and Councilor for Sports Paula Vigo, attended the awards ceremony to recognize the participants and the club's efforts in maintaining the tradition.
In Escalante, hundreds of people gathered for the festivities of the Virgen de la Cama. The event included a solemn mass and a procession of the Virgin, a tradition central to the Trasmiera region of Cantabria. Isabel Urrutia, the Counselor of Presidency, participated in the acts, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural and religious heritage. The image of the Virgin, which survived a French attack in 1639, is currently kept at the San Juan de Montecalvario convent.
