Cultural traditions of All Saints Day preserved in Chiquitania

In Concepción, Bolivia, Ignacia Bulacia, known as “doña Nachita,” is working to preserve the Chiquitano cultural heritage associated with the All Saints Day celebrations. The tradition involves religious practices, family reunions, and specific customs such as using blessed tallow candles from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception to honor deceased loved ones at cemeteries.

These rituals serve as a way to maintain the memory of ancestors through prayer, music, and traditional foods, fostering a connection between generations within the Chiquitanía region.
