Cultural updates: Transfeminist archive exhibition and Netflix costume design

The Museo C. A. V. La Neomudéjar is hosting the exhibition ‘Génesis, memoria y futuridades’, which features the Archivo Transfeminista Kuir (ATK). Curated by the NUMAX Research Group from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the exhibition explores the archive as a political and epistemological space. Key elements include audiovisual installations focusing on oral history and the use of the ‘K’ spelling in ‘Kuir’ as a form of linguistic sovereignty. The exhibition also includes digital reparation efforts, such as the recovery of the biography of opera star Maria Edenska.

In the realm of television design, Uruguayan designer Tavo García has collaborated on the Netflix biographical series about Argentine icon Moria Casán. Working under costume director Florencia Tellado, García created several looks for the series, including a metallic, extraterrestrial-inspired outfit used at the beginning of each episode. His aesthetic, which draws from the 1970s, 1980s, and Art Deco, aims to convey themes of fantasy and the future associated with Casán’s persona.
