Cultural venues in France and Tunisia undergo renovations and repurposing

Cultural institutions in France and Tunisia are undergoing significant transformations. In Carquefou, France, the Théâtre de La Fleuriaye is launching its first full season following a two-year renovation. Since reopening in January 2026, the venue has hosted over 21,000 spectators. The 2026-2027 season aims to feature a diverse program including theater, music, dance, humor, and circus. Initial ticket sales have exceeded expectations, with over 5,000 subscriptions and 28,000 seats already reserved, prompting the addition of extra performances.

In Tebourba, Tunisia, the former Sainte-Félicité-et-Sainte-Perpétue church, which has been closed since 2019, is slated to be converted into an art gallery by next year. This project, funded by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, represents a first for the Manouba governorate. The building, which previously housed a public library, will undergo technical studies to prepare for its new role as a space for contemporary art, painting, and visual arts. The conversion will be supervised by the National Heritage Institute to preserve the building's architectural characteristics.
