Cultural venues in Lisbon and Belo Horizonte announce upcoming programming

Cultural venues in Lisbon and Belo Horizonte have announced diverse programming schedules for the upcoming months, spanning theater, music, opera, and cinema.

In Lisbon, the Teatro Variedades and Capitólio in Parque Mayer will host over forty cultural proposals through December. Highlights include the contemporary Portuguese opera ‘Pigmalião’, the play ‘Closer’, and the musical ‘White Christmas’. The Teatro Variedades is also hosting a reading club, guided tours of its historic building, and a jazz cycle curated by Hot Clube Portugal.

In Belo Horizonte, the cultural agenda features a variety of theatrical productions. Notable performances include the musical ‘Tarsila, a brasileira’ starring Claudia Raia, a production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice’ featuring Dan Stulbach, and the play ‘Lia Lia’ with Bete Coelho and Camila Pitanga. Other scheduled works include the contemporary reimagining of Sophocles’ tragedy, ‘Édipo Rec’.
