Cumaná installs 100 surveillance cameras to boost security

Authorities in Cumaná, Venezuela, have installed approximately 100 video surveillance cameras as part of a security initiative led by Sucre State Governor Jhoanna Carrillo. The system currently covers strategic locations including Cacique Maragüey, Perimetral, Panamericana, Carúpano, and Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho avenues.

Security Secretary Carlos Borrero stated that the long-term goal is to expand camera installation across all 15 municipalities in Sucre State to protect the population. Cumaná Mayor Pedro Figueroa noted that the cameras are intended to combat a rise in local thefts and will be extended to the city center before the end of the year.

In addition to the surveillance project, the municipal government has reinforced the Sucre Municipality Police by providing four patrol units and is awaiting a new shipment of motorcycles to improve response capabilities.
