Cumilla University student found dead in Narayanganj rental home

Police have recovered the hanging body of Farzana Islam, a postgraduate pharmacy student at Cumilla University, from her husband's rented residence in the Signboard area of Fatullah, Narayanganj.

While authorities stated that preliminary investigations suggest suicide due to family disputes, the victim's family has alleged premeditated murder driven by dowry demands. Farzana's brother, Ariful Islam, claimed that she had been subjected to physical and mental abuse since her marriage three years ago. He noted that a previous legal case against her husband, Nazmul Islam, was in the process of being withdrawn following a family settlement.

Nazmul Islam, also a former pharmacy student at the same university, has been detained for questioning. Police recovered a note from the scene, and the body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
