Cundinamarca authorities review security risks for social leaders

Authorities in Cundinamarca reported a decrease in alleged threats against social leaders and community groups during August. Despite this decline, the Departmental Guarantee Table for the Protection of Social Leaders remains focused on high-risk areas, specifically Soacha and Viotá.

In response to identified risks, officials have scheduled a territorial visit to Soacha to assess security conditions firsthand. This review aims to establish protective measures for social leaders, children, adolescents, and the broader community.

The monitoring process involves multiple institutions, including the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ombudsman's Office, the National Police, the Army, and the National Protection Unit. Information gathered during these assessments will be consolidated and sent to the Ministry of the Interior and the Ombudsman's Office to ensure continuous follow-up on reported risks.
