Cundinamarca delivers eco‑efficient stoves to rural families in Paime

On 4 August, the Secretariat of Green Welfare of Cundinamarca announced an investment of more than 1.190 billion Colombian pesos to acquire eco‑efficient stoves under the department’s Climate Adaptation Strategy. A portion of the budget—95 million pesos—was used to purchase 17 stoves, which were subsequently delivered to families in the rural municipality of Paime. The project, implemented through Ordinance 112 of 2023, seeks to cut wood consumption, improve indoor air quality and health, and reduce environmental impact. Secretary Diego Cárdenas Chala said the delivery “combines reduced wood use with actions to improve environmental and health conditions for beneficiary families.” The programme also provides technical assistance and community awareness activities to promote cleaner energy alternatives.
