Cuneo Democratic Party supports mayors' joint security initiative

The Democratic Party (PD) provincial secretariat of Cuneo has expressed support for a joint letter issued by mayors from the “seven sisters” of the Granda region, along with Busca and Borgo San Dalmazzo. The mayors' initiative seeks to address public safety through a unified voice that transcends traditional left-right ideological divisions.

The PD emphasized that security should be built through prevention, territorial presence, maintenance of public spaces, social services, and the support of both Local Police and national law enforcement. The party noted that while municipal initiatives such as urban redevelopment, lighting, and video surveillance are essential, they are complementary to—and cannot replace—the roles of the police, the judiciary, and the prison system.

Furthermore, the party highlighted a critical shortage of personnel and resources within state institutions. It pointed out that Local Police forces in Italy are significantly smaller than the Polizia and Carabinieri, which limits their ability to provide nighttime coverage.
