CUP party opens new headquarters in Girona and weighs election participation

The CUP political party has inaugurated a new headquarters in Girona, located in Plaça de Sant Pere. The facility is designed to serve a triple function: as a territorialized national headquarters, the base for CUP Comarques Gironines, and a workspace for CUP Girona. Party leadership stated the move is part of a strategy to strengthen the organization's presence across the Catalan Countries and provide a meeting space for popular movements ahead of the 2027 municipal elections.

Separately, the party's national leadership table has proposed that the CUP will not run candidates in the upcoming Spanish general elections on November 29, citing a lack of current political conditions. This decision is subject to a telemetric vote by the party's membership. The CUP, which holds four seats in the Parliament, has seen fluctuating results in recent general elections, failing to secure representation in the Congress of Deputies in the 2023 elections.
