Cupa Cartierelor Buzău faces uncertain future as organizer retires

The 18th edition of the Cupa Cartierelor Buzău has concluded, but the future of the long-running amateur football tournament is uncertain. Organizer Vasile Bița, who has led the competition since 2009, has announced his retirement. The tournament's continuation is currently in doubt due to a lack of support from local authorities.

In the 2026 competition results, Amicii secured the U20 championship after defeating Săgeata 6-1. In the Open category, Mannschaft won the title following a penalty shootout against Amicii, after the match ended in a 4-4 draw. Andrei Rotaru was named the best player in the U20 category, while Andrei ‘Kagula’ Goicea received the best player honors for the Open category.
