CUPET repairs Canasí Collector Center after gas supply disruption
CUPET has announced that repairs are complete at the Canasí Collector Center following a breakdown that occurred on August 9. The malfunction caused a significant reduction in natural gas flow, impacting both electricity generation in western Cuba and manufactured gas production in Havana.
The disruption affected domestic gas supplies across several Havana municipalities, including Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, Plaza de la Revolución, Cerro, 10 de Octubre, Playa, and Marianao.
While gas is being sent to production plants again, the recovery of service is expected to be gradual as the system stabilizes. The repair work involved personnel from the Oil and Gas Drilling and Extraction Company and ENERGAS, and was reportedly completed ahead of the initial schedule.
