Curaçao earns first World Cup point with 0‑0 draw against Ecuador

Curaçao secured its first ever point in a FIFA World Cup by holding Ecuador to a 0‑0 draw in Kansas City on 20 June 2026. Veteran goalkeeper Eloy Room made 15 saves, including a key stop on Enner Valencia, and was praised as the match’s hero.

The result leaves Curaçao level on one point with Ecuador in Group E, while Germany tops the group with six points and the Ivory Coast sits on three. The final round sees Ecuador face Germany in New Jersey and Curaçao take on the Ivory Coast in Philadelphia.

Curaçao became the 74th nation to record a point at a World Cup, joining Canada, Qatar, Cape Verde and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who also earned their first points in the tournament.
