Otrobanda hosts Kaya Kaya Streetparty to promote local culture

The annual Kaya Kaya Streetparty is set to take place in the Otrobanda district of Willemstad, Curaçao. Creative director Raygen Zuiverloon describes the event as a form of ‘placemaking’ that goes beyond mere entertainment to foster culture, entrepreneurship, and community connection.

By utilizing the streets, squares, and buildings of the historic UNESCO World Heritage area as a festival grounds, the event aims to revitalize the local environment. This year’s programming will extend to the area beneath the Queen Juliana Bridge, incorporating music, dance, art, and local markets to create a sense of belonging through the unique local context of Curaçao.
