Curacao to Host 21st Islands of the World Conference 2027
The International Small Islands Studies Association (ISISA) announced that the 21st Islands of the World Conference will be held in Curacao from 6 to 10 June 2027. The event, themed “Navigating Challenges, Building Global Resilience: Island Solutions,” will bring together researchers, policymakers, professionals, students and civil‑society representatives to discuss climate resilience, disaster preparedness, sustainable development, governance, health, migration, culture, tourism, energy, food and water security, nature conservation and community‑based innovation.
Researchers from the Dutch Caribbean islands – Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten – are invited to submit abstracts. Dr. Renske Pin, President of the Local Organising Committee, said the conference aims to highlight the creativity and solutions that originate from island communities, not just their vulnerabilities, and that hosting it in Curacao offers a key opportunity to connect the Dutch Caribbean with island scholars worldwide.
