Curaleaf's QMID medical device registered in Australia and New Zealand
Curaleaf International, in partnership with Jupiter Research LLC, has announced that its Que Medical Inhalation Device (QMID) is now available in Australia and New Zealand.
In Australia, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) added the device to its medical device register on September 15, classifying it as a Class IIb device. This marks the first time a device intended for the delivery of Cannabis Sativa L. extracts via inhalation has received regulatory approval in Australia.
In New Zealand, the device was added to the Web Assisted Notification of Devices (WAND) database operated by Medsafe on September 17, allowing it to be available to prescribers. The QMID is a reusable hardware system designed to power the aerosolization of prescribed cannabis-based medicines using approved cartridges, intended to provide standardized dosing for patients.
