Curator Lucchini outlines job‑protection plan in Caorso Bags Making Systems liquidation

Lawyer Lorenzo Lucchini, appointed curator of the judicial liquidation (procedure 11/2026) of Bags Making Systems S.a.s. in Caorso, clarified the process and stressed the aim of safeguarding employment. The court’s opening sentence was published on 1 July 2026, after being filed on 26 June, and Lucchini accepted his mandate on 3 July, within the two‑day legal deadline. He explained that the suspension of employment contracts is automatic under article 189 of the Italian crisis code, making accrued wages competitive claims that cannot be paid directly. Workers retain the right to resign at any time with effect from the opening date. Lucchini has maintained regular contact with trade unions, briefing CGIL on 8 July, holding a collegial meeting on 13 July, and conducting a detailed phone call with UGL on 15‑16 July. He rejected inaccurate media reports that suggested the opening date was 26 June and that unions were uninformed. The curator’s primary objective is to find a continuity solution, such as a sale, to preserve jobs.
