Curepto prepares for revived Fiesta del Camarón on Aug 8

The municipality of Curepto in Chile’s Maule Region is set to host the traditional Fiesta del Camarón on Saturday, 8 August, marking the event’s return after a four‑year hiatus. Regional Governor Pedro Pablo Álvarez‑Salamanca and Mayor Fernando Alcántara announced the program, which will take place in the municipal gymnasium from noon.

The festival will feature typical regional cuisine, live music, and a series of competitions such as shrimp extraction, the biggest shrimp, and best costume. Local artisans will display wool and wood crafts, and visitors can sample Curepto wines and craft beers. Organisers aim to showcase Maule’s cultural heritage and boost tourism in the area.
