Curitiba receives R$58.2 million boost for SUS hospitals

The state and municipal governments of Paraná have allocated a total of R$58.2 million to fund fourteen public and philanthropic hospitals in Curitiba that handle 96 % of the city’s SUS admissions. The transfer, announced in late June 2026, will be made in monthly installments from July through December, increasing the monthly allotment from R$6.3 million to R$9.7 million. The funding consists of R$34 million from the State Health Secretariat (Sesa) and R$24.2 million from the city’s treasury.

Federal Deputy Beto Preto (PSD) praised the initiative, highlighting the partnership between Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, Health Secretary César Neves, and Mayor Eduardo Pimentel. He said the resources will sustain emergency, trauma, infarction and oncology services and reinforce Curitiba’s role as a high‑complexity health hub for the entire state.

The investment is part of the broader Paraná health budget, which also includes a recent R$202.1 million state‑wide transfer to all 399 municipalities for specialized outpatient care.
