Curitiba roadworks under Novo Inter 2 cause lane closures and temporary street blockages

A 17‑day blockage began on July 4 on the Major Heitor Guimarães street, a key access route to Curitiba from BR‑277. Traffic is reduced to a single lane for about 160 m while the segment is re‑qualified under the Novo Inter 2 programme, which includes a dedicated bus lane, concrete paving, and recycled‑asphalt resurfacing as part of a R$ 6 billion urban‑mobility upgrade scheduled through 2028.

Separately, the municipality will carry out fiber‑optic installations in the Santa Quitéria neighbourhood from July 7 to 9. Temporary blockages may be required at the intersections of Professor Ulisses Vieira & Curupaitis, Brasílio Ovídio da Costa & Curupaitis, and Capiberibe & Bocaiúva if the preferred non‑perforating trenching technique cannot be used. The works are coordinated by the city's Department of Pavement to minimise disruption.

Both sets of works are intended to improve long‑term traffic flow, public‑transport capacity and digital infrastructure for Curitiba.
