Curitiba, Brazil faces scheduled water supply shutdowns
The Paraná Water and Waste Management Company (Sanepar) is carrying out planned maintenance on its public water distribution network, causing temporary water supply interruptions in parts of the Curitiba metropolitan area and the western city of Cascavel. In Cascavel, the shutdown began at 14:00 on 22 June 2026 to service reservoir infrastructure, affecting the Neva and 14 de Novembro neighborhoods, with service expected to resume later that night. In the municipality of Piraquara, water service was halted at 08:30 on 23 June 2026 for the connection of a new conduit to the Piraquara reservoir, with a gradual restoration planned for the morning of 24 June 2026.
Sanepar advises residents to use water sparingly, limiting consumption to essential personal hygiene and food preparation, and reminds consumers that regulation requires a domestic water tank capable of supplying at least 24 hours of water during such interruptions.
