Curitiba celebrates patron saint festivities and community chapel construction

The Archdiocese of Curitiba is preparing for the celebration of its patron saint, Nossa Senhora da Luz dos Pinhais, on September 8. The festivities include a Novena from August 30 to September 7, culminating in a Solemn Mass and Coronation at the Minor Basilica Cathedral, presided over by Archbishop Dom José Antônio Peruzzo.

In conjunction with the holiday, approximately 90 young volunteers from the Regnum Christi movement are gathering in Pontal do Sul from September 5 to 8. As part of the SuperAção project, these volunteers aim to construct a new chapel to serve local Christian communities. The project, which has operated since 2010, focuses on building or renovating religious spaces in underserved areas. This year's religious celebrations coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Curitiba.
