Curitiba completes Vila Divino urbanization and housing project
The city of Curitiba has completed the final stage of the Vila Divino urbanization project in the Atuba region. Mayor Eduardo Pimentel delivered the keys to 36 new homes at Residencial Divino III, marking the successful resettlement of 108 families who previously lived in precarious conditions near the Atuba River and under high-voltage power lines.
The project, funded entirely by the municipal budget with an investment of R$ 23.9 million, included the installation of drainage, sewage, water supply, paving, public lighting, and landscaping. Notably, all new residences are equipped with solar panels to reduce monthly electricity costs for the inhabitants.
In addition to housing, the intervention involved the environmental recovery of a previously degraded preservation area. During the construction phase, residents received housing assistance from the Curitiba Popular Housing Company (Cohab) to cover rental costs until their permanent relocation.
