Curitiba considers land exchange to expand São Lourenço Park

Curitiba city councilors are set to vote on a project to expand the preservation area of São Lourenço Park. The proposal involves a land exchange between the Municipality and Urbanização de Curitiba (Urbs).

The city would receive ten lots in Colônia Abranches totaling 5,938 m², valued at approximately R$ 1.99 million, which feature native forests and large araucaria trees. In exchange, the Municipality will provide a 1,176 m² plot in Vista Alegre valued at roughly R$ 2.04 million. Urbs will pay the R$ 49,000 difference to the city within 30 days of the law's publication.

This exchange aims to support the Rio Belém Hydrographic Basin Revitalization Plan by increasing leisure and preservation areas along the river. It also facilitates the installation of structures to retain solid particles and reduce siltation in the São Lourenço Park lake.
