Curitiba hosts free play ‘Insurdir ou Cenas Surdas’

The play ‘Insurdir ou Cenas Surdas’ is scheduled to be performed at the Teatro Regina Vogue in Curitiba this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The production, directed by Jonatas Medeiros and Gabriela Grigolom, explores the experiences of the deaf community through a mix of comedy and drama.

The performance consists of three sketches. The first, ‘Espaços’, uses comedy to examine power dynamics between a Libras translator and a theater director. The second, ‘Visualínguas’, is a dramatic solo addressing the violence faced by Black deaf women. The final segment, ‘Para – além da dor’, shifts the focus toward celebrating deaf joy, culture, and artistic contributions.

Produced by Fluindo Libras and Suricatta Produções, the event offers free admission, with tickets available at the theater box office one hour before the show begins.
