Curitiba metropolitan transport system receives new advertising concession

The Paraná Metropolitan Affairs Agency (Amep) has authorized the commercial exploitation of advertising spaces within the Curitiba metropolitan bus fleet. The concession was awarded to Pajolla and TK Comunicação Ltda under a five-year contract, which is renewable for an additional five years.

The agreement covers 944 vehicles across 206 lines, including standard, articulated, and bi-articulated models. Advertising formats include both internal and external placements, such as busdoors, sidebus, and seatbacks. Under the terms of the contract, 60% of the gross revenue generated will be transferred to the State to fund improvements within the metropolitan transport system.

Separately, the Paraná State Court of Accounts (TCE-PR) has directed the City of Curitiba and Urbanização de Curitiba S/A (Urbs) to develop a contingency plan for emergency situations in the public transport system. This follows an investigation into the management of subsidies provided during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the court identified flaws in the execution and oversight of funds despite recognizing the necessity of the transfers.
