Curitiba region issued red alert for severe storms

Residents in the Greater Curitiba area received red alert notifications via the Cell Broadcast system due to severe storm warnings. Rainfall accumulation has approached 100 mm in various parts of Curitiba and its metropolitan region.

The Paraná Civil Defense warned of high risks regarding the overflowing of streams, flooding of creeks, and street inundations. Vulnerable areas identified include Curitiba, Pinhais, Piraquara, São José dos Pinhais, Fazenda Rio Grande, and Araucária.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued safety recommendations, advising citizens to avoid standing under trees during wind gusts, stay indoors during lightning storms, and secure valuable documents in plastic bags in the event of flash floods.
