Curitiba Spring Festival opens with Demônios da Garoa performance
The Curitiba Spring Festival (Festival Primavera Curitiba) launched with a performance by the samba group Demônios da Garoa and the Orquestra à Base de Corda de Curitiba. The event, held at the Memorial de Curitiba, drew a crowd of over 2,000 people. The performance was moved from Praça Osório to the Memorial due to weather precautions.
The festival is a city-wide initiative organized by the Fundação Cultural de Curitiba, featuring more than 80 free shows and attractions across various parks, squares, and memorials through October. Upcoming scheduled locations include the Jardim Botânico, Parque Gomm, Memorial Ucraniano, and Parque Tanguá.
In addition to the musical performances, the Sunday event in the city center included community services such as flu vaccinations, dengue guidance, and dental care. The Demônios da Garoa, recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest-running samba group in Brazil, performed a repertoire blending traditional São Paulo samba with orchestral arrangements conducted by João Egashira.
