Curitibanos court convicts woman of racial injury

A woman has been convicted of racial injury in Curitibanos, Santa Catarina, following an incident at a local hospital in February 2025. The court determined that the defendant used expressions related to race and skin color to deliberately humiliate the victim during a dispute over vehicle access near a snack bar.

Based on video surveillance and witness testimony, the judge sentenced the defendant to two years of imprisonment. As the defendant is a first-time offender, the prison sentence was converted into community service and pecuniary payments. Additionally, the court ordered the defendant to pay a minimum of R$ 2,000 in moral damages to the victim.
